| Printed Cast Water Soluble Film: |
A final solution to the problem of packaging of Agrochemicals.
India, a country of farmers, a country of billions will emerge as a grain hub of the world in the near future. As the agricultural land is being continuously used for developing new infrastructure, so there is a great urge to develop new and highly effective pesticides, weedicides, insecticides, etc to increase the yield. But there is great hue and cry about the hazardousness of these agrochemicals. In the process of development many agrochemicals came in existence but because of poor methods of use governments had to ban those chemicals e.g. Monocrotophus. But where there is a will, there is a way. We at Arrow Coated Products Ltd greatly believe on the abovementioned line. Traditionally, chemicals are being packed in plastic bottles & pouches; which have a big problem of safe disposal. Apart from this there is one more very serious problem of improper quantity used by the untrained farmers. If the quantity used is low, then the effectiveness of the chemical will not be up to the mark. On the other hand, if the quantity is more then it can lead to a greater problem i.e. the pests, weeds, herbs, etc can develop a resistance property to that particular chemical. Companies are very cautious about liability charges. They take all the necessary measures to minimize it, as the liability sues can be sky high and may be unaffordable for the company. A
horrified example can be taken of Union Carbide Corporation. “A single mistake finished the business.”
So here water-soluble film comes in to the picture. This is a wonder product, which looks like a normal plastic film but if we immerse it in water, it will dissolve in that within few seconds leaving no residue behind. Farmers don’t need to touch the chemicals with their hands. They will simply pick up a pouch and put that in water, the pouch will dissolve in water and the agro-chemical is ready to use.
There are two kinds of water-soluble films; the inferior one is Blown Water Soluble Film and the superior one is Cast water-soluble film. Blown film has some problems regarding solubility, sealing & opening of pouches associated with it. On the other hand our Cast Water Soluble Film has perfect solubility, perfect sealing of pouches and perfect opening of pouches.
Printing is not possible on Blown films, but on our Cast WSF printing is very much possible. As people are aware that according to Insecticide Rules mentioned in Section 36 of the Insecticides Act, 1968; sub rule (1) of rule 19 states that the printing work must be done with an indelible ink on the label of the innermost container of any insecticide and on the outer most covering in which the pack is packed. Sub rule (2) of rule 19 states that the label shall be so affixed to the containers that it cannot be ordinarily removed. The companies which don’t follow these rules can lose their license. The manufacturers can face imprisonment and heavy fines with very high liability claims.

The pouches made up of our film open easily without any extra hassles. On the other hand; the blown film has sticking property which makes it a painful job to open the pouches. Which leads to wastage of men-power, lose of efficiency and increase the risk factor to the workers.
